Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishing on the Marsh is outstanding with shiners and not too bad with artificial.

Wednesday last week Tony Maresca and Tony Jr. came out and we switched from artificial to shiners due to and extremely cold day. I think it was one of the coldest days that I have ever spent out there. With fish biting the shiners like they were candy it didn't take too long to warm up however.

Thursday, as did most, I filled up on turkey and trimmings and had a great day with the family. Friday, Grif Pitcher from Atlanta took another trip with me and we again used shiners. The results were fantastic in the SW area of the Farm. Typical fish was three to five pounds. Scott had customers that had fished the 19th out again on Friday and as with the previous trip they did fantastic with shiners. Every shiner out of 14 dozen got hit and many good size fish came to the boat.

Saturday, Rich Pollack and his father fished a 1/2 day with only moderate success with artificials. We didn't fish the whole period as I was also showing them the lake, but they have already booked the 3rd of Dec. to give another go at it. Scott had the same fellows from the day before: another 14 dozen shiners and another great day. We have located a very large school of big fish and they are cooperating 110%.

Sunday I had Jack Goldsmith from Lake Mary, Florida and we had a fantastic day. Working artificial baits in various places gave some nice fish to the boat. Areas fish were found included the NW area of the Marsh, the SW area of the Farm, and the center N/S canal in the Farm. Baits used were chug-bugs, rattle traps, and lightly weighted Carolina rigs. Scott had out Mark Aarvig and Doug Gossman from Kentucky out and a full day was spent on the Marsh catching bass with shiners.

Monday, George Banker and his wife Candice from Colorado, spent the day with me throwing wild shiners at extremely cooperative bass. Again the bass came from the Marsh fast and furious. Quality of the bass amazed them both and brought smiles to their faces. Scott, with Mark and Doug repeated the previous days performance within a short distance from us.

Tuesday was a repeat of customers for both Scott and I and we fished the exact same area as all the previous days. The bass today however preferred free-lined shiners compared to those with floats. Both boats loaded up with bass. Even the dead shiners were producing fat and healthy bass. Candice I thing set the record with her catch of 5 big bass on one shiner. We would just move the hook to a new spot and thow it out and Candice would hook up the next willing bass.

Today I had Doug Glisson out and we worked artificial baits. Primarily we used the rattle trap, however we did get a few on chug bugs. This morning was a little tough going and we tried quite a few areas. We did get some fish in the SW area, and we did connect and land some at the intersection of the center N/S and E/W ditches. We moved up to the Marsh working the Palms in the NW and only connected a couple of times. Moving from there we worked an area in the Marsh known as Twin Palms and bingo. The bass were waking up and we wasted no time hauling them to the boat as they smashed our rattle traps.

The quality of the fish on the Stick Marsh/Farm 13 is well known to many and amazed all of the clients that we had out in the last week. Pictures will be posted on my page as soon as I have a breather sometime next week. If you are thinking of coming to the Marsh we would love to have the opportunity to show it to you. We cannot guarantee that you will catch the biggest fish of your life, the most fish of your life, but we can guarantee that you will be treated fantastically and that you will have the best day on the water that you have ever had. We fish this lake almost every day of the year and can assure you that we will do our best to put you on fish for both quantity and quality. We have two boats: 20 foot Nitro and 20 foot Hewes Light Tackle. Both are fully equipped for safety and comfort. Come on out, you will have a great time.
