Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Fishermen are returning to the Marsh as the water levels continue to rise due to increase in rains. The storms are coming late in the day and are something to watch for. Lightening is an ever present danger with the Florida heat fueled storms and nothing to take lightly. If you see it coming head for shelter until it passes.
Navigation on the Stick Marsh will go through a period of being more difficult with the rising water. Stumps and stickups that were visible only last Wednesday are now just below the surface, so take you time and be gentle with the boat.
There are still plenty of bass on the Stick Marsh side and it’s a pick your bait situation. Over the last three days we have caught them on just about any color worm, Chug Bugs, Spittin Images, and one of my favorites, soft jerk baits. They are in the sticks and in the open areas surrounding the sticks so finding them should pose no difficulty. Size has been a real mixed bag with lots of Bucks, spawned out gals, and occasional Lunkers. With all the brush you need to be quick about getting them up or it’s 1,2,3 and they are gone.
As we come into the summer, sun and heat are a serious matter to contend with so have plenty of fluid on board and use SPF 30 or stronger for that sun protection.
Bass are spread out pretty good on the Farm with some pretty good fish located in the southern end. The cleanest water is in the SE area and SW area. Levees are still too shallow to charge across so be careful when approaching a ditch.
The last two days we spent on the water with the filming team from Outdoor Central and we had a blast. Jeff Hord, Jay Michaelis, and Rocky Buchan spent two days of fishing and filming on the great waters of Stick Marsh/Farm 13. When the film is edited and given its finished touches it will be available via my site on the Internet. I will keep you posted as to when it is available. This was Rocky’s second trip to the Marsh and this time there was no hurricane to contend with. They thought they knew what it meant to fish wood until they came to the Stick Marsh.
Be careful out there, have a great day and say hi when you go by.
