Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

The water continues to come up by the day. Today most of the stick-ups between the cut and the canal have become submerged. Just take your time and you will be fine.
The Stick Marsh continues to produce. Yesterday’s trip with Steve Campbell and his wife, was fantastic with over 40 bass over the rail. Steve landed two good-sized Stick Marsh bass on a chug bug. His first big one came on a long cast through a clearing in the sticks and weighed in at 8 pounds. His second big bass came in an open expanse of water and weighed in at 9.2 pounds. Both fish came mid-day to Steve’s amazement. Top water is the way to get the big ones right now. We were deep in the sticks west of Twin Palms when we placed these fish in the boats. Also working well were plastics anywhere around sticks.
Today we had both boats out: Scott and his people were working with shiners in the AM and artificial in the afternoon. His boats big fish came in the afternoon on a chug bug and weighed in at 14.71 pounds. Total catch for the day was 20 fish. 15 came on shiners and the rest came from the Stick Marsh.
I had my oldest son and grandson out and we spent the day on the Marsh. 34 fish came on a mixed bag of baits but most came on the chug bug. Big fish on our boat fell a little short of Scott’s but only by 2.14 pounds. My chug bug literally fell into her mouth and the battle was short lived as she hung herself in a mass of hydrilla.
The fishing is outstanding, the water is coming up and the weather can’t get much better. Possibility is always there for a thunderstorm so if one comes up head for safety. Be sure to have plenty of fluid on board and sunscreen to protect the skin. Cya out there.
