Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome

Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 10/5/01

Water Temperature: 80

Water Clarity: 1 foot

Sooner or later, (as the saying goes), all good things must come to an end. Today the man arrived and amid boo's and hoots he lowered the spillway gate untill there was nary a trickle. However, fear not as there are other locations on this great lake of ours to find your wily prey.

Date fished: 10/5/01 - Time: Daylight until 4:00PM - Water temps: 74-80 degrees - Air temps: 72-90 degrees - Clear skies with a light breeze

Today was a day for Scott and I to just fish and we started out in the spillway. 38 bass later we departed to see what we would see in several locations on the Farm and Stick Marsh. Starting in the Farm at Pinball Alley we worked westward. We did find several bass but all were small. If we found bits of grass we found bass. Worms Texas rigged were the producer. We broke off from this path and headed north on the center N/S irrigation ditch working the east side of the ditch. After about 30 fruitless minutes of that we decided to go to the Stick Marsh side and see what we could find.

When approaching the Stick Marsh you will see what looks like a field more than a lake. However, there are areas on the Marsh of open water and there are pathways to reach those areas. A sharp eye and some maneuvering will get you to those areas and once there expect to find bass. "Big bass"

All the bass but two came on chug bugs and they hit these with a slamming gusto. One bass that was gotten with the second chug bug knocked the first chug bug over 20 feet through the air. Not one bass that was caught was lacking for food and most were like footballs. 32 in all made for an exciting afternoon.

Be careful out there, keep your eyes open, and say hi if you pass us by. It's still warm so don't forget the fluids and sun protection.
