There was only a slight drizzle and temperatures were not too chilly at launch time. Could the weatherman have been wrong again? There was hardly a breeze blowing as Mark Middleton from Tenn. and his friend Steve left the ramp with me as we headed to pick up shiners. With the weather forecast shiners seemed to be the better option for a successfull day out here.
By the time we had our shiners and set up on the west side of the Farm the wind was already starting to blow, but not out of the north as was called for, but rather due out of the east. Our first stop was not a successfull one as the fish were small so we moved further south to the corner. This proved to be the correct move as the fish stepped up in size to an average of 4+ pounds.
As the day progressed, the weather worsened with steady rains and winds that swung all over the place and increased to about 20 MPH by 3:00. However, for all the rain and wind we were able to place 25-30 bass in the boat. The last 6 came out of the NW area of the Stick Marsh.
Scott spent the day with his previous days fishermen and they pretty much duplicated what we had done. For any that were hardy enough to be out there the fish were definitely cooperating.
See you on the water. Stop and say hi if you get a chance.
