Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 10/5/02

Water Temperature: 87

Water Clarity: 1 foot

Today Chip and Hooter showed up bright and early rarin to go. We left the ramp in the dark and headed for the Farm. The sky was crystal clear without so much as a cloud and the stars provided a canopy that was absolutely fantastic.

Once on the farm we rigged as yesterday and started our trek down the center N/S ditch. We found the bass right where we had left them and the bite was immediate. However, today was not to be like yesterday as Crappie fishermen decided to run through the hydrilla that we were fishing even tho we were anchored. One boat, then two, then three, and we decided it was time to move. No since getting into a fuss as it was obvious that they felt the water was theirs.

We headed to the SW area of the farm and drifted throwing traps and weightless Senkos. Best fish there was a 4.5 pounder that hit a trap. Although the weatherman had called for a wind of 5-10 out of the east it was blowing more like 10-15 out of

We then went to the eastern N/S ditch and had very little success. We headed back to the center ditch as most people had pulled out but after all the boats running through the grass that area was off.

Our last trek was running the western N/S ditch and it was here that we caught the pictured fish. She came on a Carolina rigged Senko on the north end of that ditch.

The bite was pretty evenly mixed between the traps and plastics. A note of interest on the trap: A stop/go retrieve was the most productive with the bass hitting it at times when it was sitting still on the bottom. The best Senko bite came on the Carolina rig but that was due to the wind. Weightless Senkos don't work well in a stiff breeze. We didn't see any shad busts today but even without them we managed to get 47 bass to the boat before quitting. Big fish was 6 pounds. Most of the fish ran smaller today.

See you on the water. Sorry for the double post blurb!
