Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome
October 14, 2002
Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 10/14/02

Water Temperature: 82

Water Clarity: 1 foot

Launch time: Daylight

Quitting time: 3:00 PM

Weather: Clear skies, light wind, with rainstorm to the east. Storms blew through early afternoon and brought winds of 20+ and then leveled out at about 18.

Water: Stained and temperatures 82

Baits used: Rattletraps

Areas fished: All areas on Farm 13: Center N/S ditch - Center E/W ditch -Intersection of the above ditches - North end of 1st N/S ditch - North end swale

Not much changed along the center N/S ditch except that the shad didn't roam through as much as previous trips. The rattletraps were still able to peck away at them. There was a change at the intersection in that we saw better fish than previous times there.

Also some decent fish were caught at the intersection of the E/W with the 1st N/S. Our best fish for the day came on the north end of the Farm. There is a swale there that runs E/W along the top end of the ditches and we caught fish there that ranged from 3.5 pounds to the one in the picture. She just sort of slurped the rattletrap in as we moved from the center ditch to the next ditch to the west. Once at the next ditch we found several more that wanted to cooperate.

We had both boats out today with 5 people fishing and all had a good time. They found the drive down from NC well worth it and will be back out tomorrow to see if they can top today. A total of 90+ fish cooperated and they said that they were hoping to double that tomorrow.

The weatherman is calling for cooling temperatures over the next few days and that should turn the topwater up a tad. I would be looking for more of the big fish to be moving up and out of the ditches and the feedbag to be on.

See you on the water. Say hi if you get the chance.
