Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 10/25/02

Water Temperature: 78

Water Clarity: 1 foot

Fishing on this lake is outstanding and getting better. Some of the where's to fish are going through subtle changes, but the how to fish the area remains pretty much the same.

Our weather remains relatively dry and the water levels are slowly dropping, but nothing so drastic as to affect the navigational safety on the lake. On the Stick Marsh side it is never recommended that you run, and on the Farm side you need to have eyes open for floaters and idle in the southern reaches.

Most baits that work in shallow waters will work here and if you happen to be near a shad bust when it occurs top water baits provide lots of excitement.

Most of the fishing is being done of the Farm side with areas to concentrate on being the ditches and their sides. The south end of the Farm is quite heavily weeded all in and around the stumps and provides an excellent place for bass to hide. There are other areas of grass on the Farm and seeking them out could lead you to one of those lunker bass.

On the Marsh side you will find bass are getting back into positional areas in preparation for the winter spawn & season. A bait that produced really well yesterday and the 1/2 ounce spinnerbait and it was producing quality bass. The northwest end of the Marsh gave up bass in the 3 to 6 pound range. Twin palms had fish but while we were there they weren't playing. We did get a couple of nice fish just into the Marsh on the south end as you come out of the ditch.

The picture fish came out of the Farm side and came on a rattletrap. This particular area of grass is located out in the middle of the Farm and we pulled a good amount of quality bass out of it. I noticed the fish moving into this area while out with a client on Monday and yesterday was the first chance to get back to it. This area which is on the east side is not far from where we have been noting shad busts for the last two to three weeks.

See you on the water.
