Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 11/24/02

Water Temperature: 60

Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

The weather has been unique for this early in the year with temperatures cold enough to create ice on windshields to highs in the high 70's. For those that don't know the lake real well this has caused some disconcertment for the catching side of the equation but it has in no way put the fish into a non-biting mode.

Over the last three days we have had outstanding bites using live bait, (shiners), rattletraps, and Senkos fished weightless.

Thursday, using shiners, both boats went through 12-dozen with the big fish for the day tipping the boga grip at 8-pounds. Friday, using rattletraps, (the preferred bait due to wind), and weightless Senkos, (in protected areas), over 80 bass were boated. Yesterday, using rattletraps 27 bass were boated in a 1/2-day AM trip.

All of these fish were located on the south end of the Farm and the cleaner the water, the better the bite. The shiner fish came deep into the southern reaches of the Farm and the rattletrap fish came outside of the heavy stump areas of the Farm. The Senko bite came along the west wall of the Farm, south of the fishermen's shack.

The rattletrap bite took persistence in the same area as the fish were scattered, but it was steady throughout the day.

The Padens from Tennessee ended up going through 648 shiners, several rattletraps, and several bags of Senkos, which created one of the most memorable trips they have ever been on. Their comments after this trip was that this was simply the best lake that they have ever fished for quality bass. They have fished all over the country and in Mexico, and although they have caught a lot of bass in other places they all said that the quality was far better here.

As we end out the month we expect to see more and more of the big females in pre-spawn condition. December promises to be one of the best in recent years.

See you on the water. Say hi if you get the chance.
