Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 12/16/02

Water Temperature: 61

Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

How many ways can you say "WOW!"? Dave Epema and Jim Belcher of Jefferson City, Mo. found over 80 ways to say it yesterday.

We started the day with a bit of a snappy bite in the air, but the sun warmed things up quickly, however not as fast as the bass did. We picked up 8-dozen ready-to-work shiners at Middleton's Stick Marsh Bait and Tackle, and headed for the ramp.

First stop was the spillway area to work the west shoreline with these tasty morsels that the bass like so well. Fishing them free-lined did the trick and by 12:30 they had all been eaten so it was time to head out for some artificial action.

We never made it past the pump house. They were just cranking it up as we approached, so on went the Carolina rigs tipped with Senkos. For the first 1/2 hour there was no current flow as the pipes were closed. Dave and Jim were getting a bass on just about every cast and then they opened the pipes. The debris that came through was pretty heavy so for the next 1/2 hour the catching stopped. Once the water cleared things picked up again.

Since Dave and Jim would be fishing today on their own boat before heading back to Mo., we spent the last hour or so touring the Farm and the Marsh. I hope they had the same results today as they had yesterday.

The weatherman says that we should see a warming trend and even some more rain. The water levels have come up quite a bit with the rain that we have had and I will be out there tomorrow to see what effects the rising waters have had on some of the bedding areas.

See you out there. Say hi if you see us. Have a wonderful Holiday Season.
