Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services
Date Fished: 12/21/02
Water Temperature: 60
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet
The front pushed both air and water temperatures down but the fish remained unbothered.
All I can tell you is get out the rattletraps. West side of the Farm to the south there are bass, lots of bass, big bass, and they do want to play.
This morning from 7:00 to 10:30 I put 45 up to 7 pounds in the boat. Fire tiger or orange seemed to be the preference. They also will hit C-rigs with dark plastics. I didn't try T-rigs but I would imagine they would work also.
The wind was up this morning and I anchored in order to handle it. It gave me the best presentation and allowed me to hit the same spot over and over.
I hope they will do as well tomorrow. See you out there.

Yesterday was one of the shortest days I have ever spent on this lake. The weather started out perfect and then some rain started in from the south. I looked for the rain gear only to realize that I had left it home. Oh well, better planning next time. I did manage 6 fish before I ran off the lake. All of them came on rattletraps.
Today the weatherman was forecasting rain and possible thunderstorms starting early afternoon. Well he got the first part right. Severe weather started by 10:00 and it was a fun ride back to the ramp.
Today was a day of scouting, but the weather put a crimp in that plan pretty quickly with the wind. We wanted to check some of last year’s shiner locations in the Marsh, but south winds put a halt to that a 1/2 hour after starting. With a bunch of shiners left we ran for the spillway: better to feed them to bass than throw them away. The spillway, as it always does, produced fast and furious and by the time we ran for cover we only had two dozen left out of 8 dozen shiners.
The few people that were out there ran for any cover they could find until the first squall blew over. It was a beaut with high winds, heavy rain, lightening, and rough water. It came up very quickly and most just didn't have a chance to get out before it hit. It was a procession of boats with people looking like drowned rats after it cleared enough to get back. This afternoon the sun is out and there is hardly a cloud in the sky.
Tomorrow is supposed to be real nice so see you on the water.
