Stick Marsh & Farm 13

Capt. George Welcome
January 11, 2003
Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services

Date Fished: 1/10/03

Water Temperature: 54

Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Today we tested 2 of the southern areas of the Farm and both proved equally productive. The first area was the baylike area between the 1st N/S ditch and the center N/S ditch. Down here you will find the fish scattered but not very far from one another, and they are most willing to play. By 10:30 with 42 fish over the rails we moved off to the area that is east and south of the center N/S ditch and known by some as Pinball Alley.

Both of these areas have fish just about everywhere you can cast. We left the lake at 1:30 with over 75 fish that made it to the boat.

The bait that we were using was the 5" Senko in watermelon. The way we rigged this bait was a Carolina rig with no weight. The leader was about 1.5 - 2 feet, and we used a very small swivel. The purpose of the swivel was not to keep twist out of the line, but rather to add just a bit of weight so that the bait would be pulled back down quickly. During the earlier hours we were able to work this bait easily as there was very little wind.

As the day wore on the wind picked up so the solution to moving too quickly was to drop anchor. We only made 3 moves in the Alley area, all within 30 feet of each other. In both areas we found the largest concentration of fish in towards the shore areas more so than outside as it was a couple of weeks ago.

The "stick" bait worked well today also until the wind got too high.

See you out there Sunday. I'm going to rest up tomorrow in preparation for the banner week of fishing that I am sure, is going to be. Say hi if you see us out there.
