Stick Marsh-Farm 13 - Freshwater Fishing Report

Submitted by George, Imagination Bassin Guide Services
Date Fished: 7/1/03
Water Temperature: 84
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet
Thursday 6/26/2003 - The hot spot for the day was the spillway. Some on Carolina rigs in the current but most came off the walls of the spillway with rattletraps. The west side was hotter than the east side, but both sides were producing well. Jack Goldsmith and Tony Coleman certainly enjoyed. Scott and Don were on the west side and pretty much hauling them out one after the other. The bite shut down so we proceeded northward and ended up the day on the Marsh with a rattletrap bite.
Friday 6/27/03 - Scott took Jim Palmisano and friends into the spillway area and the bite was still there for the rattletrap. However, the bite did die down earlier. I took Jack and Tony to several areas on the Farm and some on the Marsh but we didn't have a very successful day today. The best spot for us was the south end of one of the the ditches on the Farm.
Sunday 6/29/03 - I took Don out to Lake Marian and as he already said: aaaarrrrgggh! The only grass we found on this entire lake was on the perimeter of the lake. The rest is sand bottom. The grass was in 2 feet of water or less and the biggest fish for the day was one that wouldn't have hit a 1/2 pound. Lake Marian is located in Kenansville, Florida. Pretty but not too fishy looking.
Monday 6/30/03 - Scott took Darren Walker and friend Randy out for a long half day. No spillway action today. Chug bug in the SW area of the Farm and rattletrap in the SW area of the Marsh turned 17 bass for the day to five pounds. I launched not much later but never made it past the the cut into the Marsh as my tachometer bottomed out and the charge rate dropped. One blown voltage regulator sent me back to the dock looking for someone to repair the motor. The last time this happened to me the Stator shorted and caught on fire. This time I wasn't taking any chances.
Tuesday 7/1/03 - Scott headed out by himself this morning and never moved from one area on the Farm. Shad everywhere and topwater action galore. Over 40 in a 1/2 day. This bite was bound to happen as the action on the Farm has been slow for the last few days.
Fishing has been very good but location has been everything. It has not been found just anywhere on the lake. Keep your eyes open for the Shad. For the most part this event will be found on the Farm, however the SW area of the Marsh is have some of this action also.
See you on the water.
