Penobscot Bay - Freshwater Fishing Report

Been having a great time fishing for Brookies thru the ice. The last day out in about 4 hours we caught 14 fish. They went from 10"-13".
A number of days we caught 15-20 trout. These are all native fish.
The ice fishing season ends tomorrow and open water starts April first.
Penobscot Bay Fishing Forecast:

This winter was one of our hardest winters that we have had in years. Ice conditions are still solid at this time.
By the middle of April we should see some open water for trolling flies and spoons for salmon and trout.
May should be a good month after snow melt has gone and water temps get up to 50 degrees. Trolling for LL Salmon should be hot this spring along with picking up a few lake trout.
Mid to the end of May large and small mouth bass fishing should take off also. Fish will be starting to spawn.
Maine will be offering an Atlantic salmon season this May for the first time since 1999. There are a lot of regs. for fishing them so a person wants to check with local and federal laws to see what will be going on.
Target Species:

LL Salmon, Brook Trout, Touge, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass
