Fall Fishing 08

David Cassidy Sr.
September 21, 2008
Penobscot Bay - Freshwater Fishing Report

Water temps are in the mid to high 60's. Salmon fishing is starting to pick back up. So fisherman should have a good fall. Togue are being caught on leadcore. Trolling in lakes and ponds seem to be the best here in this area.
Sewn bait like smelts and shiners are working good. Lures like Mooselooks and any smelt patterns work well.
Streamer flies (Black Ghost, Grey Ghost, Joe's Smelts, and some other patterns) are working fine.
Brook Trout are also being caught by useing the same methods for Salmon and Togue.

A lot of bodies of water now are open till the end of December so keep a law book handy so you can keep track on what waters to fish. You can do this till the water gets hard from the ice. That can start in November or December.

Have a good fall and be safe in the outdoors.

Come fish with us east of the Penobscot River, which is known as the Downeast area of Maine. This area has lots of ponds, lakes, and streams to be fished. Trolling streamer flies is one of Maine's fishing traditions. Early spring trolling for Landlocked Salmon and Trout. Troll for Togue (Lake Trout) and other fish through the summer and fall months. Plus fishing for Large or Smallmouth bass with either fly or spinning gear. I also offer icefishing trips in the winter.
