Coromandel - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well, we are half way through Autumn and the water temp is better than we had for the whole of summer! We have azure blue water in close to the coastline and a very hot end of season marlin bite.
The yellowtail kingfish are really starting to come on strong, and the next few months produce some of our best jigging for kingfish in NZ, albeit some of the best jigging you'll find in the world fullstop!

The last two days have seen us out wide Japanese style jigging at the infamous Aldermen Is. The kingis are big and fat, the average size is 15kg, but there are plenty in the 20kg - 30kg range, one of the fish we caught on the weekend had over twelve saurie inside him.

Soft plastic fishing for snapper is starting to come into its own as the snapper are spreading out and the next few months will see them move into the shallows. This is perfect for drifting and casting to where you think fish will be holding.
