First day of winter signals great snapper fishing - The first day of winter greeted us yesterday and as per usual the snapper were on tap in the shallows. As the water in close cools, the snapper move in and the next three months is some of the best time to softbait in the shallows.

We've just come off two days of insane kingfish action. Jigging the offshore pinnacles around the Aldermen Islands with big 400gm pink jigs we hooked into around 50 kingfish between five anglers up to 20kg.

New Zealand - Tairua & the Coromandel Peninsula - GENERAL CONDITIONS
Our water temp is starting to climb up, out wide of the Aldermen Islands we now have 17-18 degrees, and with the water warming we will have Albacore, Yellowfin and within a couple of months, Marlin will be turning up.
