Boat & Tackle
Your adventures IN THE WILD
will be based on a 17’10" Traveler flats boat. This wide beamed boat at
94" is very stable with large decks fore and aft that should let you keep
your mind on fishing and not about losing your balance or falling out of
the boat. It floats in about 11’ of water which will allow you to sight
cast to those skinny water redfish. At your
option bass type seats are available depending
on personal preference and the type of fishing you choose.
This rig is powered by a
1998 model 115 hp. Mercury that will get you on and off the flat in a hurry
when necessary, but will be operated with your safety and comfort in mind.
All equipment, tackle, flies,
etc. are supplied. Quality Redington, STH, Lamson and Scientific Angler
products will be used for fly fishing. Conventional tackle includes ABU
Garcia, Penn and Bionic Blade. I personally tie and provide the flies.
Flies are available for purchase for your own adventures. Most all of the
fly fishing opportunities are attempted with 8 or 9 wt. outfits that I
supply.
On non-windy days and open
unobstructed flats it possible to use 5 and 6 wt. outfits. Your welcome
to bring your own and give it a try. Also I provide 12 wt. equipment for
attempting large snook around lighted docks at
night. This is not to be confused with our regular night snook trips that
target smaller 3-5 lb. snook in which 8-9 wt.
is adequate.
Twelve lb. class spinning
equipment is provided primarily for open flat fishing for mostly reds,
trout and sometimes snook.
14-20 lb. bait-casting equipment is provided for back country fishing where
its necessary to pull snook and reds
out of the mangroves.
