No BS Report "Opening Day SWFL Grouper" - As you know, I was very confident in my prediction of a great opening day per my last report. Well, guess what? We limited out in 4 hours not 3 and the day was hotter than a fresh F-Fox in a Forest Fire. And there was KELP everywhere. We couldn't dra more...

Grouper Season opens with a Bang? I thought Opening was 7/1/2012 - I'm scheduled to run tomorrow. My plan is to drag +25 Ft Lures (MirrOLures) in 30Ft of water using 30LB Power Pro (which puts this lure approximately 2-3 Ft from the bottom. What color? It all depends on the water clarity. What speed? Depends on down more...

Capt GiddyUp is in Maryland for the summer. - I've got nothing except heard rioting, fighting, and chaos is the order of the day for those who wish to fish Boca Grande. When I come back to SW FL, I'm packing my USMC Colt 45 fully loaded with extra clips plus bulletproof vest. more...

Tough times were the spring of 2012 - The big schools of tarpon must have passed Ft Myers Beach and Sanibel like they had a cab waiting. There is no doubt huge numbers of tarpon can be found in Boca Grande Pass but I'm not up for boat to boat fighting. Yes I mean a good old fashion rumbl more...

Running Charters 5-16 thru 5-30 Forecast is excellent - All reports show Tarpon to be basically everywhere. I'm in Maryland and returning on May 16th. Fishing hard until the end of the month. Wind has been our a very noteworthy adversary. I'm not going to fake a report so I've personally got nothin' over more...

16 for 21 sounds good right? WRONG! - 3 weeks ago I returned to SW FL to fish tarpon charters and take 5 US Troops fishing for free who had just return from the 28 F-Year War in Afg. Of the 21 days available to fish, 16 were totally blown out. Wind velocity exceeded 20KTS almost daily. more...

Good News about Tarpon and bad news on WIND - First the good news. The tarpon are here but not the big schools (yet). The bad news. All of my charters (starting today) and running through next Tue will be 20+MPH wind velocity. In other words, it will really suck. If you planning a trip to SW FL, more...

Select only Licensed/Insured/Qualified Guides - For as long as I've fished SW FL, I've never seen a month as windy as March. If you need to go fishing in March, contact me at [email protected] and I will refer you to one of several guides. Allow me to say this about selecting a guide in Florida. Yo more...
